Grateful for Closed Doors

One morning in June of 2018 my dad was taken by ambulance from his nursing home to the emergency room. When we called his nursing home we were told he was taken to a nearby hospital and when we arrived we were told no one with his name had checked in. We called several local hospitals and no one could find him the their system. After speaking with the Long Beach Fire Department we found him in a bootleg, hole in the wall hospital. And with my employment background, I knew how to maneuver around the medical system to get what we needed done. So you know I was already making phone calls to get him transferred out of there and ready to file complaints on everyone involved... But God, in His grace had planned all along for my dad to be treated at that dingy ol' bootleg facility.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek him. ~Hebrews 11:6

My faith was shaken that day, when I felt things were out of my control. Looking back, I have to thank God for His hand of mercy because my father was very well taken care of. At that hole in the wall hosptial, each nurse in the ER went out of their way to make sure my father was comfortable, monitored his condition and responded quickly to his needs . He was later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit where there were several nurses and very few patients, so my dad received the absolute best care possible. I judged the situation because I was viewing things with my natural eyes. I saw a small and what appeared to be beaten down building in a ghetto neighborhood. For a minute, I forgot Who was sitting on the Throne.

Now if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move this mountain. And the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. ~Matthew 17:20

When things feel out of control, God is always in control. There is never a need to worry or fear the worst because God's plan is greater than our own plan and He knows what He is doing. He works outside of time. And his Word says that He goes before us. He isn't asking for our permission to do what He does. He is only asking us to trust Him. And trusting Him means that we cannot move in fear. We are called to walk by faith and not by sight. So the next time fear is knocking on your door, remember to fix your eyes on Jesus who is the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Hebrews 12:2 says, "For the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."

Today the Lord is saying to you, "Stop trying to do things in your own strength, trust Me."

Let's pray,

Dear Lord,

I give you glory, Father in Heaven. I praise the name of Your Son Jesus, our Savior. I thank You that He is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. Lord I lift up each woman who is moving in fear today. God You know her situation and what is coming against her in this moment. God and I thank you that Your Word says that no weapon formed against her shall prosper. Open her spiritual eyes to see Your mighty hand moving on her behalf. Cause her not to be afraid of what she sees with her physical eyes because You are in control. You have not left Your throne of grace. And the one who intercedes on her behalf sits at Your right hand. I thank You that He is the one who the wind and the waves obey! God cause her to walk by faith and not by sight , remind her of Your word that says, with her mustard seed of faith, she can move mountains in Jesus name. Lord I pray Your will in her life today. I pray Your will in the lives her of loved ones. And I thank You for Your grace and mercy that covers her, in Jesus name.

Amen.
